Samantha is quite and indecisive, but is very loyal to her friends and has a strong desire to help people. She had always been a coward before the incident, but now she has no fear of death due to her training for the Peace Keepers, a mysterious organization who has taken an interest in the supernatural…

Samantha never knew her father, but other than that, she had always had a nice life. She was going to a good school, getting good grades, and her mother was doing well at her job. Samantha wasn’t very popular but she was happy. Until the fateful day that soon ended all of it…
Samantha was walking back home from school one day when she was suddenly and without warning flung against a wall by an unknown force. She looked around her but didn’t see anyone or anything that could have done it. Again, without warning, she was clawed across her shoulder. She couldn’t see what was attacking her, which was frightening enough. When all hope seemed lost, the invisible entity was pushed aside by a man wearing some green thing over one of his eyes. The man proceeded to pull out a shotgun and repeatedly fire at the unseen foe. However, Samantha lost consciousness before she could see what happened next.
She awoke to find herself in a brightly lit room. Too bright, in fact, to see anything but a machine of some sort to her left. When she got her bearings and tried to look around she found that she was strapped down to a table, and was wearing an oxygen mask, as well as various medical sensors. Someone, or something, that she could not see then injected something into her arm with a needle, and she lost consciousness again.
This time, she awoke in a dimly lit room that seemed to have a greenish tint to the light. She checked, and this time she was in a comfortable bed, and wearing comfortable pajamas. This was much preferable to the last time she had woken up. She looked at the desk next to the bed and found a carefully prepared breakfast. Realizing she was hungry, she reached over and took the plate of pancakes. After eating them rather quickly, she gulped down the glass of orange juice. At this point her curiosity had overcome her hunger, and she checked inside the desk. It was empty. She looked around, but there wasn’t any more furniture in the room. There was, however, some V shaped symbol on the wall, as well as a security camera looking right at her. She tried the door, but it was locked, so she tried to get the attention of whoever was observing her through the camera. Soon, and without having any luck, her hunger took over and she went to finish her breakfast.
Having finished all the food, she had tried many times to pry open the door, as well as yelled to try getting someone’s attention. She eventually felt tired again and went back to sleep in the bed, having nothing better to do.
Samantha awoke from her nap, and did a little stretch. She looked to her right and noticed there was a young woman sitting on a stool next to her bed. The young woman was wearing a red military uniform of some sort, and it had the same V symbol on the hat. “Do you feel better now?” the young woman said while standing up from the stool. “Better than when?” Samantha asked, not really knowing what had happened.
“Better than when I last talked with you. Although you shouldn’t really have any recollection of the procedure, it’s a side effect of the medication.” said the young woman.
“Procedure? Medication? What happened to me?” Samantha asked, and then added, “And who are you?”
“To answer your last question, you may call me the colonel.” Said the woman while adjusting her glasses. “As for the others, we saved your life. We did more than that, actually, but I can tell you about that another time…”
“What did you save me from? And who are ‘we’?
“We saved you from what we like to call… An Alternate Existence Entity. As for who we are… We go by many names, but you can call us The Peace Keepers.”
“The man that saved me, was he one of you too? He had the same device going over his eye.”
“Ah yes, this. You can perhaps get one too someday, but not until after we try you out in the field! You will be a hunter, like the man you saw. Your strategy will be different, of course.”
“Hunter?”
“Yes, the hunters! Their job is to find more Alternate Existence Entities, to either capture or stop in order to prevent them from hurting anyone. The hunters must also find others who have been attacked, and bring them back so that we can help them. You shall make an excellent hunter, Ms. Primrose. Yes, you shall. You shall help many people.”
Samantha didn’t get what was going on and thought this lady was a little odd in the head. She asked, “Why do you want me as a hunter?” The colonel replied, “Those who were attacked by Alternate Existence Entities have the ability to detect other Alternate Existence Entity activity, and with some enhancement of the ability added by us, you can help us find them. But of course, there is also your special ability, which you must learn how to use first, before you are released into the field.”
“What about my family? Won’t they notice me being gone?”
“Oh. Your mother. I’m afraid this is where our little chat takes a darker note… You see, she was killed by another Alternate Existence Entity about the same time we saved you. If we had had more hunters, we probably could have saved her life…”

One Year Later

“Your final testing has been completed, Samantha! You have complete control over your shape shifting abilities, and your loyalty to the Peace Keepers is unmatched! Are you ready to begin your commission as a hunter, corporal?” said the colonel.
“Affirmative!” recited corporal Primrose, while performing a salute.
“Excellent. May your mission be successful, comrade, for the good of all mankind! We are counting on you…”
