| Gensokyo was originally a desolate, haunted region of Japan ages ago. The youkai that lived there began to terrorize the surrounding lands, and thus powerful, heroic humans were sent to exorcise and exterminate them. The off and on battle between humans and youkai continued on until 1884 AD, when Gensokyo was sealed off from this increasingly scientific and skeptical world with the creation of the Hakurei Border. There has been little contact between our societies ever since. Today, the only known gateway between Gensokyo and this world is the Hakurei Shrine, which stands in isolation along the border on distant mountains of the far east. Gensokyo is populated mainly by youkai, but a decent human and rabbit population lives there as well. Some of its inhabitants went there to hide, to escape, to find shelter when no one and nowhere else would accept them. Many of them just like the natural darkness. Gensokyo is a landlocked territory at least some tens of kilometers in diameter. Notable geographic features include the Youkai Mountain with communities of kappa at its base, tengu at its peak, and the Moriya Shrine at a lake near the top; the Forest of Magic; the Bamboo Forest of the Lost where Eientei is located; the Misty Lake surrounding the Scarlet Devil Mansion; the Human Village, which is in a fertile valley; and the Sanzu River separating Gensokyo from Higan. Although passing through the Hakurei Border to the outside world is virtually impossible for anyone besides Yukari Yakumo, it is significantly easier for Gensokyo denizens to access domains of gods, demons, and dead souls which are not strictly part of Gensokyo itself. These include Higan, the Netherworld, Makai, the Celestial realm, and the former Hell of Blazing Fires. Youkai Mountain preserves the original appearance of Mount Yatsugatake before Sakuya-hime, the goddess of Mount Fuji, tore it down out of jealousy. In the outside world today, the remnants of the mountain can be seen as the Yatsugatake mountain range in Yatsugatake-Chūshin Kōgen Quasi-National Park between Nagano and Yamanashi Prefectures, providing an indication of where Gensokyo would be located in Japan. Lake Suwa is located nearby. The Gensokyo calendar dates from its sealing in 1884, and is based on the phase of the moon- due to calendar drift, it runs approximately two months earlier than ours. It is the year 125. The ship left the shore over a year ago and the mysterious giant disappeared last summer. A new threat is coming. Few know it, but those who do are very aware of what they must do. They must choose a side. And fast. This is a pre-set character RP. You play as one of the Touhou characters, or, in special cases, you can create your own... if you have to. Rules:-5 sentences -Decent spelling and grammar -No godmodding used characters -No powerplaying -Don't bitch -Don't be a bitch -Don't fuck around -Don't used sexual content (ie: Don't fuck your favourite character) -Make sense, dammit! (Unless you're Flandre or you've looked into the eyes of Reisen II) -No enforcing shit rules like "Only one character per person". I will kill you if you do. Painfully. With a chainsaw Characters:Alice Margatroid (Taken by Crystal Fire) - Spoiler:
Alice is one of only a few people known to live within the Forest of Magic. She's a magician known primarily for her skillful use of dolls as well as being a loner. She gets in many fights with Marisa but they're actually kind of close, sharing many of the same interests and even teaming up during the summer of year 119. It's like a love/hate relationship really. The vast majority of her attacks involve dolls in one way or another, either attacking for her or being used as explosives. She is a doll specialist, but dolls are more like a hobby in comparison to her full power. Alice is always seen with a locked grimoire in her hands, which is called the Grimoire of Alice. Because Alice, unlike Marisa, is much more interested in strategy and hates having to win a fight from sheer overwhelming power, she always holds back even if it means losing.
Aya Shameimaru (Taken by CocaCola-chan) - Spoiler:
A tengu who has been in Gensokyo for over 1000 years, when oni were still around. Her origin is a crow. She has the ability to manipulate wind. Her character is honest but not rigid. She is polite to strong people, and deals more firmly with weak people. However, she is always polite when conducting an interview. Although her powers are among the top class in Gensokyo, she never uses them just to show off. This isn't only a characteristic of hers, but of tengu in general. She usually lives on a mountain where the wind always moves at the same speed and the same direction. She loves gossip and is always gathering information exchanged with her fellow tengu. During any exchange, information is warped, and almost all of their stories end up exaggerated. She is the biggest connoisseur of rumors about the girls of Gensokyo among the tengu. Through observing for herself and collecting information from colleagues, barely a moment passes when she isn't obtaining material. However, much of her material is mingled with rumor. She writes up her non-periodical newspaper, Bunbunmaru News, and distributes it among the tengu. It's a newspaper chock-full of rumors.
Cirno - Spoiler:
A fairy who likes pranks. She has the ability to manipulate cold. Without thinking of her own strength, she sets up pranks and ends up having a painful experience every time. That can be said of most fairies, but without reflecting on her past painful experiences at all Cirno sets up pranks one after another. The disaster this time has all of the fairies in an uproar, so she'll probably show up too.
Eirin Yagokoro - Spoiler:
Eirin is a genius of medicine from the Moon, able to create even the Elixir of Immortality. She is living in exile in Gensokyo after choosing to stay with and devote herself to Kaguya Houraisan on Earth rather than take her back to the Moon. She was a very well-known figure on the Moon, having not only been instrumental in the founding of Lunar society with Lord Tsukuyomi, but also being its leading medical mind and the person in charge of the Moon's emissaries to the Earth. It seems that now Eirin has begun using her knowledge of medicine to act as Gensokyo's premier pharmacist, selling medicines at Eientei ranging from sleep aids to various cures. She is generally a fairly pleasant person and is devoted to serving her best friend, Kaguya, but she does not suffer fools gladly, and because of her incredibly high intelligence, she can come across as conceited, impatient and condescending at times to those not sharp enough to follow her explanations immediately.
Flandre Scarlet - Spoiler:
She is a vampiric magical girl and has been the Scarlet Devil's younger sister for about 495 years. She's kind of nuts and isn't usually allowed out of the cellar, but she usually doesn't try to let herself out. She really respects her older sister Remilia, but her raw destructive power far exceeds that of her sister's. Although she is usually docile, her insanity makes it difficult for others to understand her. When vampires attack humans, they generally try to take their prey alive so that they can suck its blood afterward, but Flandre has always been fed with cooked dishes, so she doesn't know how to properly attack a human. Whenever she tries to attack a human, she can't control herself and blows them away without leaving a spot of blood. Perhaps she can't tell that her daily meals are made from living humans. Her meals look like such harmless foodstuffs as cake and tea, after all...
Mokou Fujiwara (Fujiwara no Mokou) (Taken by The Insanity Factor) - Spoiler:
Formerly an ordinary human, Mokou became an immortal being after drinking the Hourai Elixir about 1300 years ago. Now she is never able to die, though she still feels the pain of injuries as normal. She's considered to be very powerful because she has lived for many years and earned that power, and because she doesn't die and can therefore keep fighting until she can no longer stand the pain. She has hated Kaguya ever since the moon princess humiliated Mokou's father by turning down his marriage proposal after he failed her trial of the Impossible Requests. Though the slight happened over a thousand years ago, she continues to detest Kaguya, knowing full well that she can never get her revenge--nor can Kaguya ever put a permanent end to her. When not fighting with Kaguya, though, she aids the nearby villagers by exterminating youkai and will even guide them safely to Eientei for medical treatment. She is a loner by nature and chooses not to socialize with humans or youkai, and has a dubious personality that can easily switch from friendly to threatening and back again, but her actions seem to indicate she may be a good person. She uses fire and is considered somewhat of a pyromaniac.
Hina Kagiyamia - Spoiler:
Head of the Nagashi-bina doll army. She stores up all the curses that are expelled during exorcisms. Even those with no real spiritual experience can tell that she's surrounded by curses. Any human or youkai around her will run into misfortune. However, she herself never has this problem. It only affects those around her. Hina does her best to make sure that misfortune does not befall humans once again.
Hong Meiling (Kurenai Misuzu; China) - Spoiler:
Hong Meiling is a youkai, though it isn't currently known which specific category she actually belongs to. She guards the entrance to the Scarlet Devil Mansion along with her henchmen. She is known for her mastery of the martial arts, part of which can be seen from her movement which is performed with Shin-Kyaku (a move in Chinese martial arts).
Iku Nagae - Spoiler:
A youkai that lives between the world of dragons and the world of humans. Sometimes humans find traces or dead bodies of her kind, but very rarely they do show their living form to humans. It is said that they can understand a dragon's words, and only the important words are relayed to human and youkai. The edges of their long clothing radiates a scarlet color in an indescribable beauty. Rumor says that if a human wears this clothing, they will be able to fly through the sky. She spends most of her time swimming through clouds. Doing nothing in particular, she observes the dragon god as she swims elegantly through clouds. Thus she causes almost no harm to humans. She can read the mood of a place, and adapt to it right away. She doesn't try to break the mood unless there's a very urgent reason. Flexibility is stronger than stiffness. When necessary, she vanishes completely and parries any attacks. She's always laid-back and has no interest in others' behavior. She almost never insists on her own opinion, and mostly watches what others do.
Kaguya Houraisan - Spoiler:
Kaguya was once a princess of the Lunarians, a race of people living on the Moon. She was exiled to Earth over a thousand years ago for the crime of using the forbidden Hourai Elixir to make herself immortal. Arriving on Earth one day, she was found by a bamboo cutter and dwelt among the humans she had once despised. Though the Lunarians looked upon humans with contempt, Kaguya came to love her new home. Tales of her unearthly beauty led men from all across the land to seek her hand in marriage, Fujiwara no Mokou's father being one of them, but none could successfully complete her trial of the Five Impossible Requests. The first was to bring her the stone begging bowl of the Buddha from India. The second was to retrieve a jewelled branch from the island of Mount Hourai. The third was to seek the legendary robe of the fire-rat of China. The fourth was to retrieve a colored jewel from a dragon's neck. The final task was to find the legendary Cowry treasure of the swallows. These potent treasures were eventually revealed to already be in Kaguya's possession. After years of exile, powerful emissaries arrived from the Moon; Kaguya had been forgiven of her crime and it had been decided that she should return. Kaguya, however, had grown to love life on Earth and had no desire to return to the lunar capital permanently. Enlisting the help of her friend Eirin, Kaguya escaped from the emissaries and fled to Gensokyo. Taking refuge in an ancient manor called Eientei hidden deep within a secluded bamboo forest, the two Lunarians began a new exile. After several centuries of isolation, she was eventually reunited with Mokou, who had also used the Hourai Elixir to become immortal, and the two continued their feud, murdering each other on a nearly daily basis.
Keine Kamishirasawa (Taken by The Insanity Factor) - Spoiler:
Half human, half beast. Has the ability to conceal/erase histories, or to create them. The first two abilities belong to her human form, the last to her beast form. She's usually in her human form, so that is her "true form". She transforms into a hakutaku during the full moon, at which time all information is known to her. When the full moon disappears, she feels a little sick to her stomach. Ever a friend of the humans, she protects them from Gensokyo's many youkai. There is not one thing about the history of Gensokyo that she does not know.
Komachi Onozuka - Spoiler:
She has the ability to manipulate distance. When a person dies, their spirit must cross the river to the Netherworld. It is Komachi's duty to ferry the dead across the river. The width and depth of the river changes depending on her mood. Also, if someone has done too much evil during their lifetime, they may even not be able to cross the river. A shinigami judges one to be good or bad not by the amount of crimes, but by money. That is to say, not the money that the deceased may have had while they were alive, but rather the total amount of those who yearned and missed that person from the bottom of their hearts. By the way, judging the amount of crimes of the dead is not Komachi's job and would be handled after crossing the river, but that's a story for another time. After death, when she requests a passage fee from them, people tend to be surprised since the money they have on hand doesn't correspond to their own assets, but on the assets of his or her surrounding friends. Very rich people tend to be despised during their life, and are astonished to see how little they have after death. Komachi always demands those she guides to pay all the money they have, and anyone who hesitates to pay the full sum is dropped into the river midway through the journey. The river is made infinitely wide, and the unfortunate spirit is soon consumed by huge fishes and sea dinosaurs which were extinct in world of the living.
Marisa Kirisame (Taken by Crystal Fire) - Spoiler:
An ordinary magician. She usually cloisters herself in her house located at the Forest of Magic, where there are almost no visitors, and researches magic. She is a bit of a sore loser and meanie, but deep down she has a straightforward personality. She is treated like an annoyance wherever she goes, but in fact she often causes the annoyance to begin with. One of the reasons she stays in the forest is because no one bothers to go there. She doesn't want to be disturbed while she's doing research, and when she wants to meet others she can always go there herself. She's like a send-only cell phone. However, she causes a disturbance at other places, wherever she goes. She has good speed and power, but poor melee technique. While her movement is fast, her attacks are slow. She covers for her lack of physical strength with magic, but the amount of enhancement is actually overkill.
Patchouli Knowledge - Spoiler:
A witch who has settled down in the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Unlike the mistress of the house, she is not weak against sunlight; however, she does not go out much. She spends her days in a library where the sunlight cannot reach. This is so that the books won't be damaged, but the unhealthy atmosphere is bad for her health. She doesn't have a very proactive personality, but rather always walks her own path. However, she is always interested where knowledge is concerned and will proactively go and try to acquire it. She does everything by the book, but still makes a lot of mistakes. Although she is quite skillful, her complete lack of physical fighting ability can't be helped. She pretty much never attempts to directly punch or kick her opponent. She makes up for this with her knowledge of a great variety of powerful magic. She's more at ease using magic than trying to attack physically. Dividing the magic she uses according to the days of the week is a secret hobby of hers, but no one has realized this.
Prismriver Sisters (Lyrica, Merlin and Lunasa) - Spoiler:
The three of them were born long ago. At that time, there was a human noble, Count Prismriver. The Count had four daughters, whom he cherished. However, due to an unfortunate accident, the four daughters were orphaned. Without any other relatives, each daughter went her own separate way. The fourth daughter, Layla, was unable to leave the mansion that held so many of her memories. Using her strongest power, she conjured poltergeists with the appearance of her older sisters, then vanished along with the mansion and the poltergeists. Time moved on, and the death of the four people from those old days came to pass; the mansion, now called the Poltergeist Mansion, remained in Gensokyo. The three poltergeist sisters continue their noisy lives in that mansion to this day. The musical performances given by those three, at various places of announcement, a fusion of casual rhythm and classical instruments, are loved by the inhabitants of the cheerful Netherworld. Yet, the performance itself provides no additional effect, and does not heal.
Ran Yakumo - Spoiler:
Yukari's shikigami. She does Yukari's work for her while her master sleeps. Her main ability is control of shikigami. Yukari sleeps 12 hours per day and is only awake from sunset to midnight. On top of that, she hibernates through winter. Because of that, Ran takes care of Yukari's work while she's asleep. Ran has been a shikigami for quite long time, so she's more powerful than ordinary youkai. For that matter, she has enough power to possess her own shikigami. Perhaps she has already forgotten that she herself is a shikigami. Every year, when cherry blossoms are about to bloom, she visits the Netherworld for flower viewing. In truth, she is a fox turned youkai. Like Chen, her shape is unchanged and she has a well-rounded personality. Even without looking closely, it's obvious that she has several tails. As a matter of fact, when it matters, she has plenty of power even without support from a shikigami.
Reimu Hakurei (Taken by Powerrave) - Spoiler:
A typical shrine maiden from Hakurei Shrine. She always lives on ideas off the top of her head, and doesn't consider something seriously. The only thing she does that actually resembles a shrine maiden's duties is enjoying tea and life on the veranda. She is quite simple-minded, thus when she's angry she's angry, and when she smiles she smiles. Her open personality makes her well-liked by both humans and youkai. Due to that, many people stay close to the shrine. She lacks training in both melee and spells (or rather, she rarely does them), but she covers that up with the numerous talents she's born with. So she's quite tough, enough to make you wonder if she's really a human. While she warps or uses guided shots, it's all straight from her perspective. Mean shrine maiden.
Reisen Udongein Inaba (Reisen I, not to be mixed up with Reisen II) - Spoiler:
A rabbit from the moon. Her red eyes give her far greater power over insanity than Earth rabbits. She is currently living as Kaguya's pet. Her name was originally written レイセン (pronounced Reisen), but it was changed to 鈴仙 (also pronounced Reisen) to better blend into Earth's civilization. The other parts of her name are just nicknames. Eirin gave her her first nickname, "Udongein," and affectionately calls her "Udonge" most of the time. No one is certain why that nickname was given to her, especially since even Eirin doesn't call her by the full name Udongein. Moon people are hard to understand... "Inaba" was later bestowed upon her by Kaguya because... well, that's what she calls all rabbits. Whenever Kaguya says Inaba, she could be referring to Reisen, Tewi, or the scores of other rabbits living in Eientei. It doesn't seem as though she ever bothered to make a distinction between them. All rabbits probably look the same to her. Reisen is a fugitive from the moon, which is being invaded by Earth.
Remilia Scarlet - Spoiler:
Master of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. She looks young, but she's actually a vampire who's over 500 years old. Weak against sunlight, she has to take a parasol if she wants to go out in the daytime. Her personality is somewhat childish, and she's got maids who are basically at her beck and call, so she can be as egotistical as she wants. She's immensely powerful, so she can really kick up a fuss. Faster than the eye can follow, strong enough to crush boulders, powerful enough to manipulate demons, she's so strong it's almost not fair, so she doesn't care much for subtle technique. She may be weak against sunlight, but she has a pretty strong constitution, so as long as some bit of her still remains, say, a little bat, she can regenerate any time. She's dreadful to have as an enemy, but she's not exactly the sort of person you'd want as a friend, either.
Rin Kaenbyou - Spoiler:
Her real name is Rin Kaenbyou. She doesn't like long names, though, so she has everyone call her Orin. A cat that lives among the flames, and Satori's pet. Since she's well-spoken and can converse freely with corpses and spirits, she was left in charge of controlling the spirits in what was once the Hell of Blazing Fires. She has an old friend named Utsuho Reiuji. They've been close friends since before the time Satori began taking care of her, that is, the time when the underground separated from Hell.
Rinnosuke Morichika - Spoiler:
Rinnosuke runs Kourindou, an antique shop near the Forest of Magic. He chose this location in the hopes that both human and non-human potential customers would visit, but his plan failed miserably as his shop is always deserted, with the exception of a few daily "annoyances". What Rinnosuke actually is remains unknown. His appearance is that of a human, but the official stories say that he has lived several times longer than Reimu. His appearance has not changed since Marisa was a small child, at the very least. It is also said that he knows about the previous Hakurei descendant, as well as the establishment of Hakurei Shrine and its purpose. Rinnosuke is known for his great interest in the outside world, and uses a collection of items from the outside world (which have accidentally slipped past the boundary) as his shop lineup. With his recognition ability, he can determine the name and purpose of each foreign item, but he still can't tell how they are used. Due to his lack of knowledge about the outside world and modern science, he often ends up drawing strange conclusions about those items.
Sakuya Izayoi - Spoiler:
Her main ability is manipulating time. She is a maid who works at the Scarlet Devil Mansion on the banks of a lake in Gensokyo for no salary. She's kept quite busy in this mansion cleaning, commanding the other maids, cooking, and taking care of her mistress. The mansion is unnecessarily large and has monotonous colors, so it's hard to tell things apart inside. Nobody would notice if an uninvited guest wandered inside and fell into a hole somewhere, undiscovered. Nobody would know if they were discovered and gotten rid of, either. Somehow, this scarlet building doesn't seem out of place surrounded by the green of Gensokyo. It simply stands there as if it were always meant to be there. Living here, even Sakuya feels as if time has stopped. Of course, that's not because Sakuya has stopped time.
Eiki Shiki (Shikieiki Yamaxanadu) - Spoiler:
One of the gods that resides in hell and judges the deceased. Her ability allows her to get things settled once and for all. Her actual name is Shiki Eiki, and Yamaxanadu part is a kind of title for position in Yamas. Basically the title represents the place they're in charge of. Unlike humans, she has a criteria of right and wrong in her own mind. Her judgement cannot be overturned by the deceased. Her criteria is quite complicated, and the seriousness of the crimes factor in everything from why they occurred to the personal history of those involved. The minimum requirement of lying to her, in order to appear as a good person, is not letting her discover that lie. If discovered it is a huge deduction. Her usual routine is to find faults of the deceased and decide where they will be sent to: Hell, Heaven, or somewhere else. Due to her job, she tends to be somewhat moralistic.
Suika Ibuki (Taken by The Insanity Factor) - Spoiler:
There are supposedly no oni in Gensokyo, but this girl insists that she is an oni. Oni are generally jolly and love to drink, feast, and compete with humans in any kind of contest, from simple melee to drinking games. When they find a human that they like, they tempt that human into challenging them in any way the human desires. Should the human lose, they are abducted. The oni find these games to be great fun, but humans don't appreciate the nature of that fun. Put simply, humans cannot compare to an oni's level of ability. Humans could enjoy themselves as much as the oni if they tried to reach the power level of their opponents, but they don't. Worse still, humans attempt to destroy the oni with underhanded tactics. Abduction by oni used to be a symbol of human fear, which was the oni's reason for being. In a way, that fear was necessary to the human race... Yet, the humans selfishly put an end to it. The oni, growing weary of being duped and killed repeatedly, abandoned humans for all time and moved to a place beyond human reach, or so the legend says. In any case, the oni have not been seen since. This girl insists that she is an oni. She is certainly jolly and loves drinking, and likes feasts so much that she has them every 3 days. But to tell the truth, she wants to restore the relationship between humans and oni. As mentioned above, Suika is jolly and drink loving. Innocent and simple-minded. She raises an upbeat atmosphere in a crowd, but when you're alone with her, you'll gradually become irritated by her childishness. Her ability allows her to control density. She can gather and scatter whatever she desires. By gathering people's sentiments, they will have parties; by scattering herself, she can become as mist. The strange mist that brought about the events of Immaterial and Missing Power was none other than herself, in very thin form. Her ability does not produce some unseen power; she can gather and scatter only that which already exists, but the process occasionally transforms one thing into something completely different. It's kind of close to creation in that way. The long lost power of the oni is truly exceptional. Her physical ability is outstanding as well; her strength, speed, and mystic power all far exceed that of a human's. Her sole weakness is her small stature, but she compensates for that in many ways. Since she loves competition against humans, she is quite tough even when she is drunk. That is to say, the more drunk she is, the tougher she becomes. Or rather, there's hardly a time when she isn't drunk.
Utsuho Reiuji (Taken by The Insanity Factor) - Spoiler:
On her left foot is the "Foot of fission"; On her right foot is the "Foot of fusion"; Finally, on her right arm is the "Third Leg" which controls it. Using these three legs, it's said she can control the ultimate energy. When she awoke after a long sleep, the Earth Spirit Palace stood above what was once the Hell of Blazing Fires. In this time when the underground was no longer part of hell, criminals were no longer banished underground, and the only ones that lived underground now were the hell ravens, the kasha that carried off the bodies of the dead, and various other curious youkai, as well as the evil spirits who only acted out of malice. Satori took the youkai who lived there as her own and raised them as pets. Utsuho and Rin were both Satori's pets. Rin and Utsuho both worked hard at their respective jobs, Rin at controlling the evil spirits, Utsuho at managing the the former Hell of Blazing Fires. If the flames became too hot, they'd open the skylight in the courtyard; if the flames became too weak, they'd throw in more of the corpses Rin carried off; they regulated the flames in this manner. They lived out their lives this way, doing the same thing every day but leading a peaceful, satisfying life. However, one day that peaceful lifestyle was shattered. Someone from above stole into Hell without anyone noticing. Then, she began to speak. Her voice stoked Utsuho's curiosity. "The Hell of Blazing Fires hides the secret to the ultimate form of energy that humans can attain. You, crow that lives within the blaze... You should be able to contain that power within your body. We can use that to bring about the wishes of not just the underground, but the above ground as well." She was enveloped in light, and she felt someone entering her body. When she came to, her body had changed greatly. Utsuho enjoyed using her new power, and before she knew it the Hell of Blazing Fires had regained its original heat. That heat boiled the water in the underground, and when the steam pressure reached its limits it boiled over into the above ground as a geyser. The one from above ground. Who was she, and what was her purpose? Utsuho quickly pushed such questions from her little head. Yatagarasu, the divine three-legged crow. The power that had entered her body was the god called the yatagarasu. It's said to be a three-legged crow that lives on the sun. The ultimate power the yatagarasu possessed was the power to split and fuse atoms. Atomic energy is the ultimate fantasy left for the future.
Youmu Konpaku - Spoiler:
Youmu is one of the stranger entities in Gensokyo, part-human and part-phantom at the same time. Her two halves are not intermixed like one would expect from a cross-breed, but actually exist in physically separate bodies. Youmu has a straightforward and focused personality, which complements her swordsmanship abilities well. However, her personality conflicts with that of her master, Yuyuko Saigyouji, who is very whimsical and playful in nature. Still, she serves Yuyuko as best as she can, tending to the gardens in Hakugyokurou and following her orders. Youmu commonly wields two blades at once, having studied some under her predecessor, Youki. The longer blade, called 楼観剣 (Roukanken - Lookout-Tower Sword), is said to be able to kill ten ghosts in one swipe; the shorter blade, 白楼剣 (Hakurouken - White Tower Sword), is able to cleave through a person's own confusion. However, not much is known about her particular style of swordsmanship, or her parents. What is known is that Youki, also a servant of Hakugyokurou, had begun training a very young Youmu when he suddenly disappeared one day, leaving her style incomplete (and presumably causing her to teach herself). No one currently knows his whereabouts.
Yukari Yakumo - Spoiler:
Over a thousand years ago, Yukari organized an army of youkai and led them in an invasion of the Moon. The youkai were subsequently routed by the Lunarians, who possessed superior technology and magic, and forced to retreat to Earth. Since that time, no youkai have attempted to expand their territory beyond Gensokyo. While some speculate that Yukari organized the invasion out of selfish hunger for territory and power, others believe she did it to teach the youkai a lesson about starting wars of conquest; namely, that it was a bad idea. About a thousand years ago, Yukari met and became friends with a human girl named Yuyuko. After Yuyuko died, Yukari continued to be friends with Yuyuko's ghost, although Yuyuko gradually forgot who she had been and why she had died. When Yuyuko requested that Yukari use her power to weaken the border between the Netherworld and Gensokyo, Yukari obliged. She knew Yuyuko's plan to make the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom could never succeed, but was too busy sleeping to say or do anything about it, or to put the border back to normal after everything was finished, which put her on a collision course with the heroines. Yukari is known for being a very youkai-like youkai who sleeps all day and lives for the enjoyment of life. Though she rarely leaves her house she's well-connected and is acquainted with most of the most powerful youkai (such as Suika and Yuyuko) as well as anyone having anything to do with the Hakurei border or outside world (Reimu and Rinnosuke). She's possibly the most powerful youkai in Gensokyo and has a tendency to toy with her opponents rather than use her full power from the start. If anyone is suited for the role of "mastermind" it's Yukari, and she often has a great deal of insight and understanding about whatever happens in Gensokyo, and possesses considerable intellectual prowess, as well. Though she seems flaky and unreliable most of the time, when the safety or security of Gensokyo is at stake, she won't hesitate to get involved, even if it means using others to do the work for her.
Yuyuko Saigyouji - Spoiler:
Yuyuko is the ghost 'princess' of Hakugyokurou, the netherworld of the "formerly-living", but was once a living human. Long ago, after her death from suicide, her body was used to place a seal on the Saigyou Ayakashi, a dangerous youkai cherry tree, to stop it from killing innocent humans. During the events of the winter of year 118, she enlisted Youmu to find a way to make the tree bloom to resurrect the corpse buried beneath it, apparently unaware that it was her own body. Forced to abandon her plan as it would only result in her own destruction and the unleashing of the Saigyou Ayakashi's terror once again, she resigned herself to continuing her previous existence. She has the power to invite mortal souls to death, and those souls who perish this way wind up in Hakugyokurou rather than Heaven or Hell. Though it might seem dangerous for such a whimsical, seemingly impulsive personality to wield such a terrible power, Yuyuko appears to have a strong sense of responsibility regarding her power, and never uses it recklessly or out of spite, nor does she use it as a weapon. Ironically it was this power that drove her to kill herself in the first place. Humans fear Yuyuko because of her fearsome power and a general fear of the supernatural, but she is very cheerful and friendly. Unlike many ghosts she resembles a living human, and her playful, good-humored personality, otherworldly beauty, and courtesan charm can have a disarming effect. She often makes bizarre and apparently nonsensical remarks and sometimes seems to overlook the obvious, leading to her characterization as an airhead or a ditz. However, at other times she will reveal an extremely cunning and perceptive side and will also sometimes display an extraordinary level of knowledge. She seems to never take anything too seriously though and she loves to tease her straight-laced and eager-to-please assistant, Youmu, who is her opposite in many ways. She is also known for her incredible appetite and seems to have a food-related metaphor for any situation. Yuyuko is truly "dead and loving it".
Want to make your own character? Fair enough. Just make me make the post longer, why don't you? The irony of that is that I'll be making an OC too. Name: Age: Gender: Race: (See below) Power(s): (Nothing too elaborate, overkill or retarded) Appearance: Bio: The following are the races existing in Gensokyo: Celestials - Spoiler:
Celestials are former humans, hermits that can be divided in two classes: those who gained immortality and ascended to heaven, and those who attained enlightment and entered Nirvana. Unlike humans who have daily hard lives on earth, they live in a carefree manner enjoying music, fishing and playing games. They usually descend to earth to say absurd things that trouble normal humans and then return to heaven. Celestials' bodies are poison to youkai, and beasts are awed by them. They can also fly and ride the clouds giving them a frightening, god-like appearance. According to Komachi Onozuka, celestials are not truly immortal. Instead, they manage to defeat the shinigami that comes to collect their souls on a routine basis, continually extending their lifespan.
Example: Tenshi Hinanai
Devil - Spoiler:
Devils are a mighty race that inhabit Gensokyo, like magicians or vampires. It was once said that they lived in different parts of our world until mass appearances of Demon Hunters and other Christian Zealots who hunted them to extinction. Vampires are considered to be a type of devil in Gensokyo. Demons or oni might be some kind of devils as well.
Examples: Remilia Scarlet, Flandre Scarlet, Koakuma
Doll - Spoiler:
Doll(人形): An artificial object most often of small size and with human/humanoid appearance. Although normally inanimate in the outside world, Gensokyo dolls seem significantly more mobile. This is usually (though not always, as in the case of Medicine Melancholy) due to being magically controlled by a puppeteer, such as Alice Margatroid. The dolls that Alice uses seem unlimited in number, as she regularly sacrifices them in explosive attacks and never seems to run out. It's no wonder certain dolls feel like victims.
Examples: Medicine Melancholy, Shanghai, Hourai
Fairy - Spoiler:
A fairy (妖精, pronounced "yousei") is a simple creature of magic that represents some aspect of nature. Many of them are also simple-minded. Fairies may have abilities relating to the four seasons, weather, emotions, longevity, decay, fertility, or other aspects of nature. The power exercised by a single fairy is usually harmless and small scale, so they're more suited to playing around, rather than causing major happenings. Fortunately, most fairies are easily amused.
Examples: Cirno, Lily White
Ghost - Spoiler:
Becoming a ghost (亡霊) is what happens to humans when they die and are unable to rest in peace. Being dead, one might think that they no longer have any need for food, sleep, physical pain, or other inconveniences of the living condition. Whether any of that is true is currently unknown. What we know is that they like to party, eat, behave cryptically, continue doing the same activities they enjoyed in life, and generally have a good time. Within the safely guarded borders of the Netherworld, ghosts live out the days of their afterlives pursuing whatever happens to come to mind. There are some vague hints about a chain of command that even the dead must follow, but it doesn't seem like specific details have been worked out. Ghosts are easily distracted. There ought to be a downside to being dead, but if there is one, it sure isn't obvious. Although ghosts and poltergeists are usually thought of as same species, in actuality they are not. Likewise, ghosts aren't phantoms, though the two are often confused.
Examples: Yuyuko Saigyouji, Mima, Minamitsu Murasa
Human - Spoiler:
Humans (人間, ningen) in the land of Gensokyo are physically similar to humans in our world, but are remarkably different in terms of abilities. In ancient times, brave humans, who knew how to deal with supernatural entities, traveled to a youkai-infested area that we now call Gensokyo. They settled there in order to watch the youkai and keep them from terrorizing the rest of the countryside. These capable humans battled the youkai often. One day, Gensokyo was sealed away from the rest of the world. Having been separated from the rest of humanity, Gensokyo humans have ignored scientific advances and developed formidable innate spiritual power to survive. Today, the normal Gensokyo human is probably a little more powerful than the average youkai, but the population of youkai greatly outnumbers humans. Most humans live in the Human Village, but a few live in other notable locations. Of course, there exist exceptional humans who can fight on equal terms against the most powerful beings in Gensokyo.
Examples: Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Sanae Kochiya, Sakuya Izayoi, Fujiwara no Mokou
Kappa - Spoiler:
Kappa (河童) are a type of water sprite that live in rivers. Often portrayed as having a turtle shell and beak, they're known for having a curiosity about humans, sometimes challenging humans to tests of skill, eating children, and having a love of cucumbers. Kappa in Gensokyo seem to think they're on good terms with humans but some of the folklore humans handed down over the generations suggest that humans think otherwise. Around the time the Hakurei Border was formed, the kappa constructed the dragon statue in the Human Village that people there worship every day. The kappa even installed a weather prediction device into it. Gensokyo's kappa live mostly around the base of Youkai Mountain.
Example: Nitori Kawashiro
Kitsune - Spoiler:
Generally, kitsune (狐) is just the Japanese word for fox. However, when used in Japanese folklore, the kitsune is a type of youkai, and is believed to possess great intelligence, long life, and magical powers. One of the more notable features of the kitsune are their numerous tails; they may possess as many as nine. The more tails a kitsune has, the older and more powerful he or she is, for every one hundred years they live, another tail grows. Once they have lived for eight hundred years they will have nine tails, one of them the one they were born with, and the other eight grown through the ages. A kitsune's greatest power is that of illusion; they are able to trick a human into seeing almost anything. Because of this ability, they are regarded as playful tricksters in many stories. Some legends say that once a person has won the trust of a kitsune, it will be difficult for others to convince that kitsune otherwise. They are extremely loyal to those they trust, and would often do anything for those people.
Example: Ran Yakumo
Lunarian - Spoiler:
The Lunarians (月人, tsukibito; literally "moon people") are the people living on or coming from the moon. They resemble humans in most ways, and are classified as human in Perfect Memento in Strict Sense. Lunarians naturally live much longer lives though, and are even said to live forever. They possess some of the most advanced technology that there is and are supposedly, according to Kaguya, the originators of magic.
Examples: Eirin Yagokoro, Kaguya Houraisan, Watatsuki no Toyohime, Watatsuki no Yorihime
Magician - Spoiler:
Magicians (魔法使い or 魔女) in the world of Gensokyo are powerful beings that have the ability to learn and practice any type of magic that exists in the world. Most magical beings can use only the innate magical power that they were born with, but magicians can develop any power they wish after studying and analyzing it. "Natural" magicians are a subclass of youkai, and inherit this unique ability as being part of the magician race. Human magicians are not born with this special ability, but instead have practiced and trained to master the skill of a magician. However, human magicians must work much harder than natural-born magicians to achieve the same results. A magician's home is usually filled with books, notes, or artifacts, due to the amount of studying and work required to learn any type of spell. Because of this, magicians are generally seen as indoor-loving, bookish types of people.
Examples: Patchouli Knowledge (natural), Alice Margatroid (youkai but was once human), Marisa Kirisame (human), Byakuren Hijiri (human who became youkai)
Nekomata - Spoiler:
According to Japanese folklore, a cat (neko) that has lived for a long time can become a kind of youkai called a nekomata (猫叉). It was believed that after a cat reached ten years of age, its tail would slowly split into two tails, and, along the way, it would develop magic powers, primarily those of necromancy and shamanism. Nekomata also have an ability to shape shift into a human form and are generally hostile to humans. There is also one kind of Nekomata that lived in Nabeshimahan ((鍋島藩)), which lived long enough to split its tail six times, resulting in seven tails. It is the most powerful nekomata in Japan.
Example: Chen
Night Sparrow - Spoiler:
The night sparrow (夜雀), or fried chicken (揚げられていた鶏) , is a folk legend in western Japan. According to legend, if you're out at midnight, the night sparrow will follow you while singing "Chin Chin." The appearance of a night sparrow is a prodigious sign that you will meet a wolf/stray dog soon. Legend also has it that if you catch the night sparrow, you'll suffer from severe night-blindness.
Example: Mystia Lorelei
Oni - Spoiler:
Oni (鬼) are fabulous creatures from Japanese folklore, similar to Western demons or ogres. They are almost always depicted as beings with incredible strength and power; physically, two long horns are said to grow from their heads. The earliest folktales of oni generally described them as benevolent creatures able to ward off evil and punish the wicked. However, over time, oni began to be seen as cruel, malevolent creatures, content only to destroy. In the Touhou world, oni are generally jolly and love to drink, feast, and compete with humans in any kind of contest, from simple physical fighting to drinking games. Long ago, when an oni found a human that they liked, they tempted that human into challenging them in any way the human desired. Should the human lose, they were abducted. Because normal humans were nowhere near an oni's level of ability, humans resorted to sneaky underhanded tactics in order to beat the oni. Tired of being tricked and killed all the time, the oni swore off humans forever and left for a place beyond human reach, or so the legend says. It was later on revealed in Subterranean Animism that the oni have taken refuge underground. According to Patchouli Knowledge and Yuugi Hoshiguma, oni are weakened by fried beans.
Example: Suika Ibuki, Yuugi Hoshiguma
Phantom - Spoiler:
Phantoms (幽霊) are spirit entities often confused with ghosts. However, all ghosts are the spirits of dead people, whereas phantoms may not be; many are born as phantoms from the start. Conversely, multiple phantoms can come from one body and they may originate from beings other than humans. Phantoms possess some common characteristics, being intangible and known for their freezing temperature which can be used to one's advantage in hot weather. These are the blobby white "ghosts" that populate the Netherworld as well as other realms and systems of the afterlife. They are also similar to poltergeists, though those too are technically different.
Examples: Youmu Konpaku (half)
Poltergeist - Spoiler:
A poltergeist (騒霊) is a being very similar to a ghost, and is often seen announcing its presence by introducing disorder. They are able to remotely manipulate objects. They can also manifest themselves visibly, audibly and solidly to the material world (it is assumed that not all ghost-like beings have such an ability). Poltergeists seem to have a talent for discovering and causing the kind of interference that will raise the greatest commotion in any sane situation. Speculatively speaking, their talent with interference potential may be what allowed the Prismriver sisters to become famous as the Phantom Ensemble. They make music that strikes all the right nerves in the audience. Although ghosts and poltergeists are usually thought of as same species, in actuality they are not. Likewise, poltergeists aren't phantoms, but are similar enough to be categorized with them.
Examples: Lunasa Prismriver, Merlin Prismriver, Lyrica Prismriver, Kana Anaberal
Rabbit - Spoiler:
In the Touhou world, rabbits (兎, usagi) living in Gensokyo seem to be able to cast attack magic naturally. Also, a rabbit can become a type of youkai after existing for a long period of time, gaining sentience and increased abilities in the process. There are also moon rabbits (月の兎, tsuki no usagi) who seem to be more powerful overall than normal rabbits. Moon rabbits seem to be used as capable soldiers in the Moon's war effort, and can communicate telepathically between each other across extremely long distances (like from the Moon to the Earth). In the Touhou world, the use of rabbits as part of the Moon's population comes from ancient tales in East Asia, possibly related to the fact that ancient Japanese people saw a rabbit in the moon pounding mochi, as opposed to a smiling face (the "man in the Moon"). Even though they may have a humanoid appearance, you can identify earth and moon rabbits alike by the two elongated ears on the top of their heads. As pictured at right, it is notable that all of the Eientei rabbits seen in Silent Sinner in Blue are humanoid, but the ones in Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth are all in their animal forms (except for the main characters).
Examples: Tewi Inaba (Earth rabbit), Reisen Udongein Inaba, Reisen II (Moon rabbits)
Satori - Spoiler:
Satori (覚, "consciousness") is a type of mountain-dwelling yōkai in Japanese folklore that holds the power to read human thoughts. The creature is said to approach travelers on mountain paths in hominid form and speak their thoughts aloud. It said that only way to counter a satori is to empty one's mind, in which case the creature will grow bored and leave, run in fear, or even die.
Example: Satori Komeiji, Koishi Komeiji
Shikigami - Spoiler:
Shikigami (式神) is the term used for the summoned spirits of an "onmyouji", a Japanese sorcerer. Shikigami are used to protect and serve their master, much like the Western concept of the wizard's familiar. There are many types of shikigami described in legend, the most common type being enchanted paper cutouts that can produce the illusion of another real-life object. The type of shikigami seen in the Touhou world are distinct entities, not initially created by the onmyouji that, through some circumstances, have agreed to or have been bound to assist the onmyouji. Shikigami often share a special link to their masters, which may cause their onmyouji to receive sympathetic injuries dealt to the shikigami. Because of this link and the enormous amount of energy needed to maintain shikigami, onmyouji do not usually summon more than one or two shikigami at a time.
Examples: Chen, Ran Yakumo
Shinigami - Spoiler:
Shinigami (死神) (Death Gods): The role of a shinigami may seem similar in certain ways to that of the Grim Reaper in western folklore. In Gensokyo, that means bringing souls to the Yama (or Enma) Shikieiki Yamaxanadu. Gensokyo's only known shinigami, Komachi Onozuka, ferries souls to the Higan. This is apparently done by crossing Sanzu no Kawa, a river in Japanese Buddhism analogous to the Greek River Styx. While Komachi is a ferryman of the Sanzu, not all shinigami occupy this position. For good reason, most people assume their life is over at the sight of a shinigami, but only a few are actually charged with taking the souls of the expired. These shinigami may be fought with just as any other creature, allowing stronger youkai to continually prolong their lifespan. Celestials are notorious for this, disguising their victory as guaranteed immortality.
Example: Komachi Onozuka
Tengu - Spoiler:
A tengu (天狗) is a form of youkai common in Japanese mythology. In general, tengu are analogous to the Western idea of goblins. Two main subspecies of tengu exist. The karasu tengu, or crow tengu, are similar to anthropomorphic crows with a humanoid body structure, whilst the yamabushi tengu are more human-like, but with red skin and very long noses. Tengu are said to be mischievous and sometimes malicious, with a propensity for playing pranks on humans. Although they disdain the proud and arrogant, they are often guilty of those same flaws. They are also associated with the arts of war and politics. Objects often associated with the tengu include the shakujo, a ring-tipped staff used for magic or physical combat; the tokin, a strangely-shaped hat which can also be used as a divining cup; and the hauchiwa fan, which can be made from the leaves of the Japanese Aralia or from feathers, and is said to have the power to create gale-force winds. The tengu of Gensokyo are known for their love of gossip and writing newspapers. Also, according to Aya they are great drinkers, only rivaled by Oni.
Examples: Aya Shameimaru, Momiji Inubashiri, Hatate Himekaidou
Vampire - Spoiler:
Vampires (吸血鬼) are among the least popular non-human creatures living in Gensokyo. They are usually self-centered, enjoy provoking strangers, and aren't terribly nice to acquaintances. They command great power, but daylight weakens them. Actually, lots of things weaken them: garlic, silver, wooden stakes, pickled veggies, patience, you name it. In spite of all that, they tend to be troublesome to handle. Most vampires are members of aristocratic families or are otherwise extremely wealthy. Oh, and they drink blood. Vampires are considered to be a type of devil in Gensokyo. Although there are multiple known vampires in or around Gensokyo, they are apparently a relatively new race.
Examples: Remilia Scarlet, Flandre Scarlet, Kurumi
Yama - Spoiler:
The Yama (閻魔), also called Enma (閻魔 or えんま) in Japan, is the Buddhist equivalent of the Hindu Yama. This is the judge of the deceased that decides who goes where after death. According to Buddhism, there are ten Yamas for each hell, but Shikieiki Yamaxanadu is the only known one in Gensokyo. Yamas can look into the past deeds of any person, and it is said that no one can pass through their sermons without being scolded.
Example: Shikieiki Yamaxanadu
Youkai - Spoiler:
Youkai (妖怪) is a term mostly associated with Japanese folk creatures and ghosts. The term can also apply broadly to anything that is a supernatural being or legend, from any culture. Because there are thousands of stories of magical beings around the world, the different types of youkai are endless. Fairies, vampires, oni, and nekomata can all be found in Gensokyo. Alternatively, it is a common Japanese belief that after a certain amount of time, ordinary objects and animals gain life and personality, becoming a kind of youkai as well. In some cases even a normal human can become a youkai under the right conditions. Gensokyo youkai tend to live within the wilderness, far away from human settlements. Normal youkai seem to behave like wild animals, attacking humans within their territory on sight. Exceptional youkai are less common, but they often enjoy speaking to humans, and are much stronger than an ordinary Gensokyo human, one on one. These youkai are almost always humanoid in appearance, and can be quite unpredictable; friendly one moment, hostile the next. Many, though not all, youkai are known to eat humans on occasion, if not on a regular basis. Many youkai are also stronger and live longer than an average human, with lifespans often reaching into hundreds of years (or possibly more in some cases). One common trait often seen among youkai is a weakness to various faith based and spiritual attacks, charms, wards, etc. In Gensokyo it's therefore natural for the resident shrine maiden to become involved whenever there's trouble being caused by a youkai. However, despite the danger certain youkai present, humans and youkai can and do live together. Some, such as Tewi Inaba, are even helpful to humans. Deciding if a youkai is harmful to humans or not must be done on a case by case basis. It seems that youkai, like fairies, may not be able to die permanently; Hieda no Akyu, Reimu Hakurei and others regularly discuss 'extermination' of youkai as if it were only a temporary measure. While this may be merely a quirk of language, it seems like Gensokyo's humans would rather do away with many youkai completely, were they able.
Example (normal): most enemies that appear during a non-boss encounter are weak youkai/fairies. Example (exceptional): Rumia, Yukari Yakumo, Tewi Inaba, etc.
Yuki-onna - Spoiler:
A Yuki-onna (雪女) is the Japanese word for snow woman. They are a spirit or a youkai, associated with winter and snowstorms. It is said in some legends to be the spirit of an individual who has perished in the snow and cold. Yuki-onna are often described wearing a white kimono (or any clothes resembling such), or naked, with only their hair and face standing out. Despite their inhuman beauty, they are hostile to humans and kill them unsuspectingly. In Gensokyo, they only appear in winter and are rarely encountered.
Example: Letty Whiterock
My characters: To start with, I'm going to take Utsuho, Keine, Mokou and Suika. Now, I also have an OC. Name: Ayumu Yamashita (歩 山下) Age: Just over 400 Gender: Female Race: Shinigami Powers: To manipulate the senses (includes being able to understand and communicate using any language) To be able to go absolutely anywhere (even outside of Gensokyo)
Aoppearance: - Spoiler:
Colour and chibi
Bio: Having died at a young age due to having terminal cancer since she was born, Ayumu, previously Itoe Ishimaru, met Komachi Onozuka far earlier than she wanted. However, when being judged by Eiki, she pleaded to return to life. Eiki granted her wish and gave her fifteen years to live above ground, before coming to work as a Shinigami alongside Komachi. Four hundred years later, she looks no older than fifteen. She has a mix of Eiki's moral compass and Komachi's laxness. She works a lot faster than Komachi, however, and won't hesitate to work past her limit as a way to pay back Eiki. At the time of the mysterious happenings, Eiki has insisted that Ayumu takes a break and Komachi picks up the slack. OC's in next post. This RP is currently being hosted by Powerrave.

Batou Oshii (Taken by Powerrave) - Spoiler:
Name: Batou Oshii Age: 38 Gender: Male Race: Human Power(s): Is rather strong with his cybernetic arms. Also carries around a semi-automatic pistol. His eyes and brain are also cybernetic. His eyes allowing him to be able lightly scan things. Appearance: Bio: Batou used to live on earth, but with his job he had to stop someone who was actually trying to open a gate to Gensokyo. The gate opened and Batou accidentally went in and ended up in Gensokyo, having absolutely no way of returning to earth. He is an elite units of a special police team on earth, but how will that help in Gensokyo? He will have to find out.
Crystal Fire (Taken by Crystal Fire) (Lol Crystal Fire took Crystal Fire) - Spoiler:
Name: Crystal Fire Age: 21 Gender: Male Race: Human Appearance: black hair of medium length, spiked in the bangs; 5' 9"; usually wears a dark-red swordsman cloak that fits loosely around him.
Bio: It has been almost eight years since the man now known as Crystal Fire slipped into the realm of Gensokyo. It was apparently on a day where both Reimu Hakurei and Yukari Yakumo were being rather lazy, or so he was told upon his arrival by the shrine maiden in apology. It seemed that both the protectors and maintainers of the border were at a harvest moon festival, and thus the border had weakened.
Being only a young man at the time, Crystal wanted nothing more than to return home to his family; however, he felt a genuine and powerful fear of approaching the only woman in Gensokyo that could grant him his wish; the border youkai Yukari Yakumo, half the reason he wound up in the realm. He had heard that those like her had a diet of humans, and as he didn't want to be eaten, he feared meeting with the demon.
As he was hesitant to return home, a new plan was devised; as he was in need of a guardian, he was placed under the care of the shop keeper, Rinnosuke Morichiya, and consequentially, Marisa Kirisame. It wasn't a decision that was made lightly, nor was it one that Rinnosuke particularly cared for, but he knew that Crystal couldn't survive on his own, so he accepted. However, it was Marisa who had convinced him to accept; she was eager to have a new playmate, as to her, Reimu was becoming rather boring as of late.
For five years, Crystal lived at the shop and home of Rinnosuke. However, one day during those five years changed the outlook of Crystal's life; a unique sword was found and brought to the store of the shop keeper, and Crystal picked it up and examined it before Rinnosuke could truly get a good look at it. It was at that moment Crystal became ablaze with a strage blue fire, yet his body did not burn. Rinnosuke feared for the boy's safety, but then saw the sword in full, and immediately determined its function; it was a sword enchanted by a powerful witch that would choose its own master to bestow its powers upon. This power was to call upon the aid of mysterious blue flames meant to sear anything that the master of the power deemed a threat. At the same moment he identified it, the sword glowed a pale white, then shot into Crystal's chest, uniting the sword to the body of its chosen master.
That day forward, Crystal cast away his former name, and truly became Crystal Fire, named after the flames bestowed upon him. Only he, Rinnosuke, and Marisa know his true name in all Gensokyo; during his days under the care of Rinnosuke, he did not go out much due to fear.
Also after that day, Crystal became obsessed with the ways of swordsplay. Under the guidance of his guardian, as well as some hired help of the half-human, half-ghost Youmu Konpaku, after two years of intense, relentless training, Crystal became an accomplished swordsman.
However, he wasn't done there; his next goal was to become an accomplished swordsmith, as well. With the aid of his "borrowing" friend Marisa, he obtained several books on the ways of swordsmithing. It turned out that his power of the Crystal Flame would aid him tremendously in the art, and within a year after his new obsession took root, he had successfully made his first sword.
It was shortly after that day when Crystal first found a use for the sword; a youkai with the power over sonic waves had attacked the store, and as Rinnosuke was out searching for merchandise and Marisa was out doing whatever she felt like, it was only Crystal there to defend the store. Feeling a surge of fear, he had forgotten about his Crystal Flames. Knowing he had to do something, he took the sword he had made and used the knowledge of swordsplay to use and managed to slay the youkai before any permanent damage was done, and he did so without even taking a hit. It was then he knew what he was going to do after his time under Rinnosuke's care was over; he would become a youkai assassin, just as Marisa claimed to be.
Now, he resides in the human village, in which he does his business of both selling custom-made swords and signing contracts of assassination. Over the years, he has grown to love the land of Gensokyo, and though now he doesn't fear Yukari, he doesn't wish to return to the other side, either. In fact, he has become rather fond of a certain resident kitsune within the Mayohiga house, yet his nerves and the knowlege of her situation has prevented himself from telling her countless times.

| That all depends on personal preference, Chao.
However, some characters never get along. Like Kaguya and Mokou. So playing those two agreeing with each other is a no-no.
But picking sides is all personal preference. I don't push you to go either way.

yeah, to bad for you it was only a fan made comic. Touhou RP should have all characters available for the people here. Sanea is shrine maiden thing, not slut.

| DP: this still hasn't started, i have nothing to say about that really, it's not my RP after all. but, i'm tapping out. the longer i wait the less i feel like working with preset characters. i might come back to this is some point, using an ownmade character, but until then, happy RPing for everyone in this when it starts. and also: - Spoiler:

| It does make me slightly sad, but very few people joined, and I was never accepted so technically there were only 3 people in this RP; You, TIF, and Coca-Cola Chan. | |

| Good point well made. We need something to advertise to people who enjoy RPing, but are not trolls or flamers. How the hell do we do that!? | |

| for the trolls and flamers, there are a total of 2 admins and 2 moderators on this forum, so they can be kept under control. for advertising, i dunno. | |

| Interesting and amusing, though it will take you forever to fill every one of those char slots up.
I'm bored, and I could play Cirno pretty well if it came down to it.
